Not everyone knows if they’re having a Daniel or an Emily, so throwing the perfect baby shower can sometimes be tough. Pink or blue? Yellow or green?  Unicorn or dinosaur? Either way, we’ve got some ideas for you to throw a successful, neutral baby shower.
Décor

White signifies innocence and goodness, so keeping the décor simple with an all white theme is perfect for keeping it neutral. White table clothes, white cups, white paper plates, white candles, white paper lanterns … you get the idea. Add a pop of color by bringing in flower arrangements that incorporate green hydrangeas, yellow daffodils, black-eyed Susans, yellow irises, poppies or sunflowers (depending on the season).

Dessert

Or should we say cupcakes? Indianapolis is home to some fabulous bakeries that are known for their chic and delicious cupcakes.  Some of our favorite bakeries include:

•    The Flying Cupcake Bakery
•    Gigi’s Cupcakes
•    Parcha Sweets
•    SweeTies Gourmet Treats
•    Holy Cow Cupcakes

To keep with the all white neutral theme, order vanilla, almond or white chocolate flavored cupcakes topped with elegant butter cream frosting.
Gifts

What better way to prepare the mother-to-be for a bundle of joy than to stock up the nursery with a collection of widely-popular children’s books. On the invitations, ask that each person bring their favorite children’s book (Dr. Suess anyone?). The woman of the hour could also share her “wish list” of books for the nursery with the guests. To go along with the theme, wrap gifts in all white or ivory paper.

Drinks

Let’s keep things light by mixing a clear punch made with white grape juice, ginger ale and Sprite. Or for those of us with a sweet tooth, serve vanilla milk shakes. In need of a refreshing beverage, supply iced white tea garnished with white raspberries. Trés chic!
