Reading is fun! Emphasize this message by making your child’s favorite book come to life at their birthday party. Make the décor the same color palette as the book with culinary creations named after the book’s characters, and of course—literary-inspired goodie bags. Some great books to translate into a party are Dr. Seuss or Eric Carle. With bright colors and lively characters, you can’t “grow” wrong!
Grumpy guests can be easily avoided with constant snacking opportunities. Make sure you have an array of kid and adult friendly snack options available throughout the party. With the baby snacks, ensure they are munchies they are familiar with to limit any hesitation. Some ideas are applesauce, crackers and small cubes of cheese. But with the adult snacks, feel free to treat yourself and your guests by getting a little fancier. We suggest checking out these recipes: mini spinach lasagna roll-ups and cucumber bites.
Let your little one smash a cake. When will they ever have the chance again? Get a smaller cake just for the birthday baby and let them enjoy. Then have another cake for the rest of the guests to eat. It’s a growing trend at first birthdays, plus a great photo opp!
Keep the memories of your baby’s first birthday by taking lots of pictures. Create some photo opps around the party, whether you have a photo booth or a nice backdrop. These will be great keepsakes to show your baby when they grow up. We suggest hiring or appointing someone as the photographer for the day. This way you can have lots of pictures without it taking away from your experience.
