Weddings are the biggest opportunities couples get to share the love they have for one another. Anniversary parties give couples another chance at celebrating love and happiness. Every second and every year together should be cherished, but some anniversaries are more special than others and call for an extra special celebration. Today’s blog highlights a few of our favorite anniversary milestones with wedding anniversary party ideas and inspiration!
No Longer Newlyweds: First Anniversary Ideas
Congratulations, you’re no longer newlyweds! Celebrate one year of wedded bliss with a party! Traditionally, the one-year anniversary theme is paper. For a more modern approach, the theme is clocks. For this paper anniversary, consider making origami flower bouquets with paper. To combine the traditional and modern, wrap stopwatches with chains around some of the paper bouquets. Indoors or outdoors, light up the space with paper lanterns. For the invitations and decorations, try a love letter theme. Hand write invitations or find a calligraphy-style font.
Since it is your first anniversary, it is your first chance to develop an anniversary tradition. Some couples take this opportunity to start taking an anniversary photo each and every year. You can either recreate a wedding photo or take a simple photo holding the number “1” and performing a similar shot every year going forward.
Celebrating a Quarter Century: 25th Anniversary Ideas
Your 25th wedding anniversary is all about silver. At the wedding, the bride wore white. Now, 25 years later, find a silver or gray dress that makes you feel just as fabulous and beautiful. Complement your floral color scheme with silver-themed DIY items and touches. Tie flowers with silver ribbon or put them in silver vases. We love mason jars, so consider making them silver! Buy any size and amount of mason jars that you will need (for centerpieces or decoration accents). Then, get out the spray paint and have some fun! Be sure to cover the area where you’ll complete your craft with newspaper. If you’re feeling a little more confident in your DIY abilities, cover the jar with lace before you spray paint. Accent the table with silver dishes, napkin rings, etc. Use a white table cloth or one of the colors from your wedding’s original color palette.
Hearts of Gold: 50th Anniversary Ideas
Fifty years is a long time that has certainly created many happy memories. Celebrate these memories at a 50th anniversary party with friends, children and grandchildren. For the invitation, find your favorite wedding photo. Scan it and make an invitation with the image. Plain and simple becomes elegant and classy for this cherished event. Make the photo one side of the invitation and provide the party information on the other side. Gold lettering will play up the gold 50th anniversary theme.
Many of your 50th anniversary party guests may not have been at the wedding originally, so show off pictures from that very special day. Instead of table numbers, use table years. On each table, show off the year (use gold numbers) and photos from that year. If your party doesn’t have table numbers (or even if it does), consider adding a display table. Guests can stop by the table and flip through photo albums, letters and any other memorabilia from the wonderful fifty years of marriage. If the wedding dress is still in good shape, put that beautiful vintage dress on display! Whether in a box or on a hanger, guests will flock to look at the dress that the bride once wore 50 years ago.
If you’re planning an anniversary party for some special couple, consult with them about which date would work best for them. With the date set, the time is the next important element. Couples typically host parties for their first, 25th or 50th anniversary. Depending on the milestone being celebrated, adjust the time of the party appropriately. Older couples and guests may want a party that is earlier in the day.Paper, silver, gold or anything in between—enjoy rejoicing the love of the married couple.
